I-CAPP Delegate Program and Government Affairs & Advocacy
Government Affairs
EMS and Critical Care Transport landscapes are evolving. These changes will be for better or for worse, but they are changes that can be influenced by an active and engaged membership.
The I-CAPP Government Relations Committee provides advocacy and support by focusing on critical issues that affect the paramedic profession worldwide. We maintain awareness of medical transport issues and legislative initiatives that impact paramedic advocacy and professional practice.
Delegate Program
The IAFCCP Delegate Program was established in 2002 through the vision of past IAFCCP President Ron Walter, who recognized the need for a more effective method of communication throughout the organization’s membership. Since its inception, the program has continued to grow throughout the United States and has evolved to include grassroots representation through the Government and Legislative Affairs Committee (GLAC).
Mission
The mission of the IAFCCP Delegate Program is to facilitate communication of industry needs and current events between the Association and its membership through a network of representatives in every state and international region.
Vision
The vision of the I-CAPP Delegate Program is to develop local representation through Chapters that can help fund and direct the future of paramedics in the critical care environment. Through Delegates, Chapters, and GLAC, the program seeks to create continuity of care through expanded scopes of practice supported by educational development throughout the country.
The I-CAPP blueprint for a new EMS governing structure in every region is designed to assist in the development of continuity of care. By creating continuity in EMS, we build unity, which ultimately advances the professional development of paramedics.
The vision of the IAFCCP Delegate Program is also to build a global network of Delegates who facilitate communication between the Association and its members within their respective geographic regions. We believe that advocacy at the grassroots level is essential to the advancement of paramedicine and all of its subspecialties, including:
- Critical Care Paramedicine
- Air Medical Transport
- Ground Critical Care Transport
- Community Paramedicine
- Tactical Paramedicine
Government and Legislative Affairs Committee (GLAC)
The Government and Legislative Affairs Committee provides opportunities for members to actively participate in shaping the future of the profession. Through advocacy efforts and legislative engagement, GLAC works to advance the interests of critical care and advanced practice paramedics while supporting professional growth and development.
Advocacy Programs and Resources
I-CAPP provides advocacy programs and resources designed to keep members informed about legislation, policy developments, and issues affecting critical care professionals. These resources support members in understanding and engaging with the regulatory and legislative processes that impact the profession.
International Representation
The Delegate Program continues to expand internationally to ensure representation and communication throughout the global paramedic community. International Delegates serve as representatives of the International Association of Flight and Critical Care Paramedics (IAFCCP), communicating the organization’s mission, vision, and values while serving as a conduit for ideas and information from their regions to the Board of Directors.
This international network strengthens collaboration, promotes professional advancement, and supports the continued growth of paramedicine worldwide.
